What We Believe
A Story in Short
In short, we believe that God created everything, and it was good. We humans, in the beginning turned away from God (sin), and as a result of turning away from the very source of life we eventually die. Not only this, but we have lost our ability to have a relationship with the creator; we cannot by our own reason or strength come to God. We are all concieved under the curse of sin and death.
However, this is not what God wants, He loves us, and from the beginning He had a plan to save us. God the Father sent His only Son Jesus Christ to take this curse of sin upon Himself and die on the cross. After three days in the grave, Jesus rose from the dead breaking the curse of sin, and the power of death. Not only this, but God the Father and the Son have sent the Holy Spirit to restore that relationship which we have lost, called faith.
This is not just a story in the past; the Holy Spirit uses the words of the Bible to create faith in us even today. The blood that Jesus shed is still washing away our sins at communion even today. God still makes us His children again in the waters of Baptism, even today.
Jesus ascended back into heaven after He rose from the dead. He has promised to return, and when He does all the dead will rise from their graves and those who are bound to Jesus in faith will be re-made and live forever wth Him in a kingdom that has no more sin, suffering, or death, and which certianly has no end.

The Bible
We believe that there is such a thing as truth, and that we can know the truth because it has been revealed to us in the person of Jesus Christ, as recorded by the Holy Scriptures that we call the Bible. The Bible is God's inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law, and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. The Bible is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.

Creeds
From the vey beginning Christians have had to give an account of what they believe. Creeds were developed as short, complete statements of the faith to which we belong. We subscribe to the three eccumenical creeds: the Apostles, the Nicene, and the Athanasian Creed.
The Apostle's Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. |

Baptism
Jesus commanded in the last Chapter of Matthew to make disciples of all nations by baptizing them "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Baptism is given by Jesus. Paul says in his letters that batism joins us to Christ's death and resurrection in a very real way. In fact, Peter simply says, "Baptism now saves you." Because of this we understand baptism to be the anchor of our relationship with God in Christ Jesus which can and needs only be received once, just as Christ died and rose once for all.
We baptize our infant children as well as adults. Jesus said,
"Let the little children come unto me, and do not hinder them, for to such as these belongs the kingdom of heaven." Our children need Jesus the same as we do, and Jesus died for them the same as He did for us. The Bible tells us in the book of Acts that this promise we have in our baptism also belongs to our children. "Be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children."

Lord's Supper/Communion/Sacrament of the Altar/Eucharist
"Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when he was betrayed, took the bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples and said, Take; eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way he also took the cup after the supper, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them saying, Drink of it, all of you. This cup is the New Testament in my blood, shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
We believe that the real physical body and blood of Jesus Christ which was given and shed upon the cross nearly 2000 years ago is physically present in, with, and under the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper. Those who receive the body and blood of Jesus in faith have exactly what Jesus said, "the forgiveness of sins."
We desire nothing more than for all to feast at the Altar of the LORD in one confession and faith. Unfortunately, until Christ returns the Church will always be under assault by false teaching and schisms. The Bible says that to eat and drink apart from this one faith is to drink judgement upon yourself.
Before communing at the Lord's Table we all go through a period of instruction; even the disciples were taugh for three years! If you are not already a member of Trinity Lutheran Church or a congregation of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod please speak to an elder before the worship service so that in love and joy we may begin working towards a oneness of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
